Spring Season Cleaning your AC System

Air quality affects us wherever we are. We have become more aware of how air pollution negatively affects our lives over the past few decades. But have you thought about the air INSIDE your car?

Most vehicles model year 2000 and newer have cabin air filters The filters take care of cleaning the air in the passenger compartment. They can filter enough particles to clean dust, pollen and most pollutants from the air inside your car. This is great news for those who suffer from seasonal allergies.

The problem is the HVAC (AC) systems tend to trap moisture in the evaporator, vent systems and filters. This moisture along with heat from a vehicle sitting creates a perfect habitat for mold, mildew and bacteria. Spores from these microorganisms are then blown into the vehicle’s cabin creating a health concern for the occupants. We are offering a full AC cleaning service that effectively treats the HVAC system by improving and restoring the quality of the air in your vehicle which you and your family breath.

Harmful allergens are living and thriving inside the ventilation system and passenger cabin of almost every vehicle on the road. Every time you turn on the fan, harmful spores and other microorganisms are blown into the passenger compartment and into the air you and your passengers are breathing. Every day harmful airborne particles including vehicle exhaust, fine road dust, pollutants and greenhouse gases are drawn in through your car's fresh air vent.

If you are not sure whether you have a cabin air filter, look in your owner’s manual. If you do, you will find a recommended Interval for replacing. If you live in an area where there is a lot of dust, pollen or pollution, you may wish to change it more often.

How difficult it is to change a cabin air filter depends on your vehicle. Some are easily accessible while others take a bit of extra effort to get to. They can typically be found in the engine compartment or under the dashboard.

What does a dirty cabin air filter look like? Very similar to your AC filter at home. Debris, leaves, small bugs etc and overall not a pleasant odor.

When in doubt, visit or call Happy Wallet Quality Auto Repair and ask your Service Advisor!

Along with a dirty cabin filter we highly recommend a Climate Control Cleaning:
